Choir Director-Part TimeChrist Church, United Church of Christ in Des Plaines, IL is seeking an experienced choir director who has experience working with the Pastor, staff, musicians and the congregation to support our traditional Sunday worship services as well as special and seasonal services and events such as Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Christmas Eve . The candidate should have a comprehensive understanding of choral music, including sacred music as well as knowledge and experience planning music appropriate for a worship service. The candidate should provide strong leadership for choir, ensemble, solo and congregational singing and will be expected to lead weekly choir rehearsals (typically September – June) as well as work collaboratively with the Pastor, staff and musicians. A cooperative spirit, leadership ability, and enthusiasm for nurturing musicians of all skill levels and ages are extremely important. Requirements: Degree in Music, Church Music or equivalent preferred with at least three years of church music experience, preferably in church choir directing. Choral conducting experience is required, instrumental conducting is desirable. Knowledge of choral technique and vocal technique is also required. Organist-Part TimeChrist Church, United Church of Christ in Des Plaines, IL is seeking an experienced organist/accompanist who has experience working with the Pastor, staff, musicians and the congregation to support our traditional Sunday worship services as well as special and seasonal services and events such as weddings, funerals, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Christmas Eve. The candidate should have a comprehensive understanding of organ literature and be familiar with various styles of music appropriate for a worship service. The candidate should demonstrate competency in playing our pipe organ as well as piano. The candidate should demonstrate excellence in accompanying choral, solo and ensemble musicians and will be expected to accompany weekly choir rehearsals (typically September – June) as well as work collaboratively with the Pastor, staff and musicians. A cooperative spirit, leadership ability, and enthusiasm for nurturing musicians of all skill levels and ages are extremely important.
